IATA has announced a string of airport trials, which will give passengers new ways to check-in. With an emphasis on baggage self-tagging, mobile check-in and common use kiosks, the ‘fast travel’ initiative is expected to benefit both the industry and passengers. Louise Driscoll reports.

Common baggage and fast drop initiatives have the potential to provide higher efficiency and throughput due to economies of scale and better use of airport real estate.
