Finnair’s Board of Directors has approved an investment in onboard Wi-Fi and the A350 XWB is set to be the carrier’s first Wi-Fi equipped aircraft.
Passengers onboard one of Air China’s Boeing 777s were able to watch a live broadcast by Xinhua News Agency in the latest Ku-band connectivity trial.
Panasonic Avionics’ David Bruner tells FTE that improved connectivity will drive uptake of live onboard television and real-time in-flight re-accommodation.
Delta has become the third airline to sign up to Gogo’s 2Ku service, which will enable the carrier to expand its Wi-Fi coverage area to over-water routes.
Next month, Dutch low-cost carrier Transavia will introduce the tablet-based Connected Crew solution and install an AirFi Box on each of its aircraft.
