Following in the footsteps of the likes of Schiphol and Dubai International, Hamburg Airport is exploring the potential of gate delivery for F&B.
The BARTA (Brands, Airlines, Retailers, Technology, Airports) trial, which began in March, involves a unique collaboration between Budapest Airport, Heinemann Duty Free and Wizz Air.
The trial will allow passengers travelling to and from Sydney Airport to search and purchase duty free inventory in-app throughout their journey.
The BARTA initiative goes beyond the existing airport-retailer-brand relationship, bringing an airline into the mix for the first time.
The car rental scheme allows people to rent out their vehicles to others while they are away travelling. Owners of larger cars can expect to earn up to £160 per week.
Passengers flying from Pier E can order food and drinks via their smartphones and have their order delivered to the departure gate within 15 minutes.
Travellers will be able to use TravelbyBit’s payment system, which includes Bitcoin, Dash and Ethereum, in various stores at Brisbane Airport.
Travellers flying from Heathrow Airport can now use the app to pre-order F&B, before collecting their order from a dedicated point within the terminal.
easyJet’s ‘Hands Free’ baggage service allows passengers to check in their hand luggage at a bag drop desk, where the bag will be tagged as priority.
Passengers will be able to purchase products from multiple airport retailers and collect all of their items from a single collection point at the airport.
The ‘BARTA’ initiative could create up to €800,000 in Wizz Air Café sales, and boost revenues for Budapest Airport and Heinemann Duty Free.
