Future Travel Experience (FTE) is delighted to announce that Albert Jan Prevoo, Director Aviation Innovation at innovation consultancy nlmtd (Unlimited), is the new Captain of the FTE World Ancillary & Retailing Working Group (WARWG), heralding a natural evolution of this pioneering commercial community.
Prevoo succeeds Sammy Patel, Vice President Commercial, Vantage Airport Group, who as inaugural Captain since June 2023 has played a key role in identifying trends and setting the tone for discussions among the group, which now numbers over 400 organisations as members.
Across a distinguished 30-year career, Prevoo has held senior roles at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines focusing on retailing and media, as well as key business development positions at Kappé Schiphol and EPAM Systems. This strong airline/airport retailer/technology background means he will bring a holistic view to the WARWG, which has evolved from an airport retail working group to a wider ancillary & retailing focus that, importantly, brings airlines, airports, retailers, brands and other key commercial partners together.
nlmtd is a key partner of FTE via the groundbreaking FTE Accelerating Collaboration & Engagement (ACE) platform, which is committed to driving real collaborative action among stakeholders. Through ACE, FTE and nlmtd are facilitating fast progress and dynamic change in key areas of the aviation industry, with two successful programs already underway focusing on transformation in the baggage and ramp space.
“We are thrilled to welcome Albert Jan Prevoo as the new Captain of the FTE World Ancillary & Retailing Working Group, continuing our pioneering collaboration efforts alongside nlmtd,” says Daniel Coleman, Founder & CEO, Future Travel Experience. “With experience on both sides of the fence, he is perfectly placed to drive our exciting plans to take innovation in the commercial space to the next level, creating meaningful output and an even more powerful platform for sharing ideas and learnings, and accelerating collective progress. We firmly believe that by working collaboratively as a sector and leveraging technology, innovative approaches, and new business models, we can create a significantly larger revenue pie for everyone to share.”
Indeed, Prevoo has previous experience of bringing together an airline, airport, concessionaire and brand in a working group, and creating such a neutral, safe space for collaborative innovation is exactly the ambition of the evolved WARWG.
“I am excited to lead the FTE World Ancillary & Retailing Working Group,” says Albert Jan Prevoo, Director Aviation Innovation, nlmtd. “The Working Group provides a highly valuable industry platform to help drive significant industry change and business model innovation in the commercial space, and I look forward to collaborating with airlines, airports, retailers, and brands from around the world, and sharing my own industry experiences. In this next evolution of the working group, we are committed to creating a safe, objective space for the brightest and most progressive minds in the commercial sector globally to collaborate and deliver tangible progress together. I have spent considerable time in my career looking at how we can create better working partnerships between industry stakeholders for mutual benefit and I look forward to driving that agenda forward for FTE to deliver tangible outcomes and establish approaches that can hopefully become common practice for our sector in the future.”
