San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK) is introducing new Augmented Reality games for passengers. OAK is partnering with Agents of Discovery, an educational technology platform that enables organisations to create their own Augmented Reality games. The airport is participating alongside other Bay Area agencies as a part of the Agents of Discovery Bay Area Explorer 5.0 Campaign.

“The San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport team is excited to unveil this new in-terminal activity for passengers at the airport with Agents of Discovery,” said Craig Simon, Director of Aviation, Port of Oakland. “It’s a fun new way for families to spend time at our airport while offering educational experiences for children.”

The Bay Area Explorer 5.0 Campaign will run until 7 September 2024. Anyone can join in by downloading the free Agents of Discovery mobile app and completing ‘Missions’, or games at participating locations. Each Mission is made up of educational ‘Challenges’ that teach players about local history, culture, ecosystems, and even safety. Languages offered within the platform include English, Spanish, and French. At OAK, aviation and environmental themed missions are available to users.

To download the free Agents of Discovery app, go to Google Play or the App Store. Once downloaded, find the ‘Missions’ near you and download them before heading out. No data or WiFi is required to play a ‘Mission’ once it has been downloaded.
