LOT Polish Airlines has launched a new Economy Plus class, and will make upgrades to its Business Class product as part of an ongoing restructuring and improvement plan.
LOT Economy Plus will now be available on all short- and medium-haul flights, and travellers who choose to fly in this class will be able to make use of a number of amenities usually reserved for business customers. On the ground, passengers will be offered a premium check-in desk, priority baggage and boarding services, and a bus shuttle to the aircraft if it is not served by a jet bridge.
Onboard they will have more spacious seats, a choice of meals and beverages, and daily newspapers. They will also be able to collect more frequent flyer points for each journey.
Michał Leman, Product and Marketing Office Director, LOT Polish Airlines, explained that the new class is being introduced primarily for business travellers. He said: “For this group of passengers, the comfort, high service standard and possibility to travel fast are important. Therefore, with this class we offer all facilities for a faster check-in, boarding and luggage collection.”
The LOT Gourmet service has also been improved, with a new menu for Economy passengers, and a restaurant-style service in Business Class on long-haul flights. The Polish carrier has also introduced the LOT Economy Simple ticket, which offers a 30% discount for customers travelling with hand luggage only.
Sebastian Mikosz, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, explained the thinking behind the latest investments. “We significantly improved our results in the past year, but cutting the cost alone is not enough,” he said. “To achieve sustainable profitability, LOT has to grow and take care of the passengers more, by expanding the portfolio, offering better comfort and a broad range of optional services. Our new offerings today best prove that LOT is changing according to the expectations of different groups of passengers, both those travelling on business and for leisure.”
