Etihad Airways has unveiled an array of cabin upgrades across all classes, with the standout product the new ‘The Residence by Etihad’ three-room luxury apartment for the Airbus A380.
The Residence is the first apartment of its type onboard a commercial aircraft and features a living room, double bedroom and en-suite shower room. Guests in the Residence will also have their own personal butler who will be on-hand throughout the flight.
First Apartment, First Suite, Business Studio and Economy Smart Seat
As part of the major cabin upgrade on its A380s and Boeing 787s, Etihad Airways will rename each of the classes. As well as The Residence, the A380 will also include the First Apartments, which are fully private suites with a separate reclining lounge seat and full-length bed, chilled mini bar, personal vanity unit and wardrobe.
The carrier will offer a new First Suite on the B787, and the Business Studio and Economy Smart Seat on both the A380 and B787. The Business Studio seats will provide 20% more space than the airline’s current Business Class seat and convert into fully flat beds. The Economy Smart Seat will offer a new fixed-wing headrest, a lumbar support feature, and an 11-inch IFE screen.
All passengers will have access to the state-of-the-art Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system with touch-screen handsets, as well as noise cancelling headphones and built-in magnetic audio jacks to provide the best possible sound quality. Both aircraft types will also offer onboard Wi-Fi.
‘The most advanced airline cabins in the industry’
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer, said: “These new living spaces will raise in-flight product and service standards to their highest level yet in commercial aviation and alter air travellers’ expectations of in-flight comfort and luxury forever.
“Etihad Airways’ A380 and B787 will deliver the most advanced airline cabins in the industry, while meeting all weight, range and cost targets at our desired seat count.”
